The Hotel was built around 1870 by the famous Dutch Architect P.J.H. Cuijpers and consisted of two private houses, no's. 36 and 38. There are numerous dissimilarities between the two. 36 has a chalet roof timber, is a little lower and has a dormer. 38 has a bay window, but the balconies which enclose the bay, continue to 36. These balconies are supported by black consoles, and those of no. 38 are decorated with classical columns. On no. 38 there is a relief of a cat chasing mice.
